Fantastic. But during the meal, 3 different people brought different parts of the meal. One person took our order another one brought drinks another one brought meal and another person brought the check.

Great food and prices. Fun ambiance

The food is good, but I was really upset when they removed the mozzarella log from the appetizer menu. The ambience is excellent and I love having a view of long island sound as I enjoy my food. Often the service is pretty slow which is the only downside. Buy I've enjoyed my experiences there

An OK place to eat. We sat at the bar because we we're grabbing a quick lunch. It was a little dark but good enough. Not much of a beer selection though. If you are good with bud or longtrail your fine. Don't look for an IPA or a Gose though. I had the fish and chips. The fish was very fresh but the meal itself was. OK but not great. I found it a little bland and the fries were mostly soggy. My wife had the fish sandwich and was very pleased. I think it's worth checking out. You might not love it but I don't think it's a total letdown.

So.. This restaurant is busy,but does have a cramped setting when you are in a wheelchair. The food was good but not a wow factor. Had their broasted chicken which I'm told is what they are known for. Just tasted like fried chicken. Wanted to try it once because it is not healthy for you at all. We did like the sides it came with. We have never been on the patio but they do have one. Also have a bar for people just wanting drinks. We go once in awhile.

My cousin and I had lunch there, arrived about 1,:30 not a soul in the place. I ordered broasted chicken which was OK, baked beans were OK, coleslaw terrible, mashed potatoes tasted funny like they were going bad. Cousin had a Reuben and couldn't even finish it. Had alot of stomach problems at night. Too bad food used to be pretty good. Meant to give only one star definitely not 4

We have never had a bad meal here. Food is fresh, home-made, and delicious!! A lot of times you eat someplace with a large variety on the menu and it lacks in some areas.....not here! Everything is always awesome!

Kitchen messed up our order the view was good server was pretty good for the price it was not worth it it's a 3 🌟 kind of place

First night in area and the restaurant was recommended. We enjoyed the fish and chips. The proportions were very large. The service was friendly and efficient. Prices a bit high.

Bar was noisy and could be heard thruout the restaurant. Service was excellent. We split an order of Fish and Chips. As advertised, Best in Town. Better than some we had in England! No salt added, we added our own to taste the way we like it.

Food is good, but Jay the bartender is the real reason to go! He's the best!

Went to Smart's for Restaurant week tonight food was good and so was service. Looking forward to going back when its warm enough to sit outside.

The waitress treated our table of 6 like an afterthought and didn't bring refills, silverware, or condiments. We had to get them ourselves from other tables. When we finally got the food, it did not all come together, and was totally bland. The wings don't taste right and the calamari sauce is bland, fries have no seasoning, burger was over cooked. If you're looking for a nice meal out, try somewhere else. This seems like more of a cheap bar than a restaurant.

good, solid food, great prices, friendly wait staff. This isn't a fine dining experience, but it IS where locals go, year round, for dinner. Nice outdoor space, pretty view of the bay across the street.

Very good food in a relaxed atmosphere. Smarty's has music several nights, big band, dixieland etc. Call to get schedule. Outside tables with water view (across Main St.) available in warm weather.

Long long wait. When we first walked in, we were the only customers there. We were later joined by one couple. We waited over a half hour to be served (lunch). The salad was ok. Nothing great. I had ordered the grilled chicken breast with Cole slaw. The chicken tasted marginally bad-- as if I wouldn't get food poisoning but I did not enjoy eating it. The slaw tasted as if it had been made a few days earlier. I sent the whole meal back. The waitress was extremely nice. She deserves to work somewhere better. There was also a bar around the corner from the dining area that even at noon had several loud-and-louder idiots. I'll never be back.

Arrived on a quiet Tuesday evening to great service, delicious food, and marvelous martinis. Be sure to check out their fish & chips!

This place constantly delivers. They serve excellent food for fair pricing, there no long wait even when the spot is busy.

Great breakfast. I have to go back again to try out lunch and dinner.

Food is ok pub food, nothing special. Friendly but understaffed. Waiter forgot to put my order in, and there was no deduction from my bill, or even a free dessert.

Service was friendly and helpful, but slow. Entrees were OK. Definitely not the 'best fish and chips in Niantic'. There are better local choices.

Waitress did not wear a mask and talked very close when taking our order during COVID. The food took a long time to come out and was made poorly. Vegetables on salad were rotten.

Fried oysters were great. Perfect texture. Clam chowder too salty must have been the bottom of the pot as I had 3 bay leaves in my bowl. Burger was good except bottom bun was soaked and squishy and toppings a little charred as it must have sat on the line for awhile. Staff was pleasant but disorganized and slow. Tables left dirty and no second drink. Was steady but not so busy to justify the bad service.

Think about it, how many stars would you award an establishment when a staff member makes the comment. "WHEN THESE 'F' IN' PEOPLE ON THE DECK LEAVE,WE''LL CLOSE " Dont worry, we've left, and taken our business down the street to the Niantic Grill.

A great little spot you wouldn’t expect to find. The food is really good, I recommend the pastrami Reuben. Jules, the bartender is absolutely fantastic!

Food was cold. Lobster bisque was worst I've ever eaten. Service was very very slow. One star was one too many. The four of us all had problems with our meals. Not a restaurant to go back try again.

Where do I begin? We were in Niantic for weekend getaway and decided to go out for dinner overlooking the water. Smarty’s seemed to have outside seating menu , seemed what we were looking for so we decided this is the place. Problem we didn’t read any reviews! We ordered Bloody Marys which had so much pepper it was disgusting. We placed our order and no food for over an hour which was ridiculous there was very few people there! We got some fish that was mistaken for a tire tube and some vegetables that we swear we had no idea what they were! Bottom line stay away from this place they have absolutely no clue why they are in business.

Worst New England Clam Chowder I've had in town but the server gave me some Rhode Island clam chowder which was a lot better and the service was good! Stop&Shop has better chowder!

Good food and great for the kids

Ignore the other reviews, they're all a year or more old and don't reflect the Smarty's I visited today. There was only one person on the wait staff for an 11am lunch but he was prompt and courteous. The food that came out was fresh and delicious.My mother and sister said their burgers were perfect (one was medium, the other medium rare). I mowed down the Texas Meatloaf sandwich, which was extremely satisfying. Whoever's in the back cooking knows how to make simple bar food into an excellent meal.On top of that I spotted a great vegetarian wrap for my girlfriend! Definitely heading back next week for another try.

Got a burger to go. Ate half, got sick and threw up for 2 days!

Owners wife ( julie) usually behind bar, NO SKILLS WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! YELLED AT MY FRIEND WHEN THEY STATED THEIR MEAT WAS BAD, PRESENTED HERSELF WITH NASTY ATTITUDE AND LITERALLY YELLED AT THE TABLE FULL OF CUSTOMERS! FOOD IS OK BUT SHES NOT CUT OUT TO WORK WITH PEOPLE, NOT EVEN A TINY BIT OF EFFORT TO SATISFY CUSTOMER OR RECTIFY COMPLAINT, NOT GOING BACK THERE!

Our waitress was great but was disappointed with food wait time. There was only a handful of other diners and it still took over an hour for our meals. Fish sandwich, chicken tenders, potato skins, and lobster bisque all fell short on what I was hoping for. It was nice to sit outside but there are definitely better spots in Niantic.
